It's already time to wrap up the year. The New Year is coming up in a week. Many people go on a sunrise trip to start the year with a new mindset. As the saying goes, "If you make a wish while looking at the sun rising on the first day of the new year, it will come true," a large number of people gather every year. Then, where should I go to enjoy the proper sunrise in Korea? Today, I will introduce five of the best sunrise spots in Korea.
Sunrise attractions in Korea 5
Jeongdongjin Beach
Jeongdongjin Beach in Gangwon-do. This is a tourist attraction that has become famous as a filming location for the drama "Sandglass". Like the title of the world's closest train station to the sea, the red sun rising over the coastline is spectacular.
Seongsan Ilchulbong
Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak is a World Natural Heritage Site and a natural monument where you can see the formation process of Jeju Island, a volcanic island. The height is 182m and the crater is about 600m in diameter, and it was originally an island, but it is said that it was connected to the land as sand and gravel piled up. Various geological phenomena can be observed here, including the volcanic ash stratum structure created by the explosion of lava when it is mixed with water, sea caves caused by wave erosion, and weathering blood in the form of vertical cliffs. In addition, the coast around Ilchulbong Peak is made of shell powder, boasting a unique scenery. The sunrise seen from Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak is a famous place for many people because of its excellent scenery.
Orangdae Park
Orangdae Park in Gijang-gun, Busan. Thanks to the open sea view, it is a good spot to take pictures.
Ganjeolgot Cape, Ulsan
It is also known as the first place where the sun rises on the Korean Peninsula. I heard that the sunrise starts 1 minute earlier than Homigot and 5 minutes earlier than Jeongdongjin. Perhaps that's why it's a place where a lot of people gather every new year.
Homigot in Pohang
Homigot in Pohang is a representative attraction of the sunrise of the East Sea. Like a tiger's tail, the land protrudes toward the sea, making it suitable for enjoying the sunrise without obstacles that block the view. There is a "win-win hand" that always appears in the picture of the sunrise at Homigot. The hand of win-win is an 8.5-meter-sized statue with hands extending toward the sky. The sunrise with the sculpture is spectacular.
So far, I've introduced five attractions that are good to see the sunrise in Korea. I hope you have a strong and bright new year with the rising sun.
